The Great Wall Cup of Beijing is an international youth football tournament organized by Beijing Football Association in association with China Sports Tour.
The inaugural tournament kicked off at the Bird’s Nest National Stadium in 2010 with 14 competing teams from 6 different countries across the globe. Last year, a total of 30 teams competed at the Great Wall Cup including 14 international teams from the likes of Brazil, Philippines and Russia. The Great Wall Cup gives young teams from around the world an unique opportunity to experience China with much more than the game itself. Teams can play against opponents from around the world; attend culture events to learn basic Chinese, Kung Fu; and visiting historical sights such as The Great Wall, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Every summer, there are many friends, activities and sights for your team to explore.
The goal of the Great Wall Cup is to become the leading and largest host of international youth football tournament in Asia within the next 5-10 years. In the medium term, this program will be supported by working in partnership with international professional associations and clubs, to offer teams from abroad the opportunity to participate in the Great Wall Cup football tournament. In the long term, sustained development of international football network within China will offer both national and international youth team access to a global sports career with professional support and social networking opportunities. The Great Wall Cup aspires to have teams from all backgrounds and nationalities the opportunity to meet and interact in Beijing by sharing culture and happiness through the universal language of FOOTBALL.
